Phase 2 Completed In My Room

Why is it every year I tell myself not to start a big project in my room during the summer, and for some reason I do it every year.  My room was "clean" and I decided that some things needed to be cleaned out and pitched.  So, it has gone from a little project to a major project, but I am getting a lot cleaned.

After completing my 26th year of teaching, you do collect a lot over the years.

I went into school the other day and started putting some "new" things up on the walls because I wanted to get my Cricut off of the kitchen floor.  Well, I did get some stuff up on the bulletin boards at school, but my Cricut is still laying on the kitchen floor cause of course I thought of some other things I wanted to do to make it look "nicer".

If you remember from a previous post, I am doing a T.E.A.M theme inside of my classroom.  The goal of doing this is that I can keep things up and just change a little each year with this theme.  The T.E.A.M. stands for Together Everyone Achieves More.  This will allow me to focus on posting our classroom goals and letting the kids evaluate them which is a part of our teacher evaluations.

Outside of my classroom we are doing an OWL theme for our whole hallway classrooms.  We are a Leader In Me School so I incorporated this outside in the hall, too.  I will also put the owl twist inside the classroom with my T.E.A.M. theme.

Getting our spacing ready to hang up the letters outside of my classroom for our OWL theme.

Here is one of the 3 trees that I will be using to later put owls with the kids' names on them once I have my class list.

The whole bulletin board says:  Give A Hoot For Kindergarten Leaders.

Guess I forgot the word "for and the rest of the word kindergarten" ?!?

I still have some bulletin board areas outside of my classroom to wrap up decorating.

Now for the inside T.E.A.M. theme~
Bulletin board in our carpet "meeting" area.

Letters were done on the Cricut to match the T.E.A.M. theme.
The next phase of this bulletin board area is to put up the goals that we will be working on at the beginning of the year.

Next phase:
Wrap up the above bulletin board
Wrap up my rules bulletin board
Wrap up my "Goals That We Have Scored" Bulletin Board
Wrap up the OWL bulletin board outside in my hallway

All of the lettering for the above bulletin boards are done and laminated.  Just need to wrap up some "clipart" that I am enlarging to go with the themes!

Even with doing all of this SueBeth and I decided to update all of our Dibels items on TPT.  Should be finalized in the next couple of days.

A bigger CELEBRATION for me is that I just wrapped up my T.E.A.M. homework booklet for the entire year.  They will be on TPT real soon!!  All I did was put them into the copier and place them into 3 ring binders!!!  Very kid and parent friendly, that is one of the best parts!!

Phase 1 Off The To Do List!!

I have been in my classroom working off and on this week.  I have been throwing things away, filing things that should have been filed a LOOOONNNGGGG time ago, and started thinking about what I wanted to do in the fall.  So, I am calling it phase 1 in my summer vacation.

I have been running my Cricut machine like CRAZY lately.  Our teachers are our school have been working at decorating our building for some Leader In Me decorations.  So, I have been using vinyl and my good ol Cricut to make some lettering for the walls.
Since the Cricut has been on the kitchen floor since last weekend, I decided that I might as well put it to use with some new lettering that I am going to use for my classroom the upcoming school year.
I will be doing an OWL theme along with a T.E.A.M. theme this coming school year.  I will be focusing on Together Everyone Achieves More.  I plan to use this concept not only at school with us working together as a TEAM, but to use this concept with my parents at home.

I have had so much fun designing things around this T.E.A.M theme.  I plan on using this theme for many years as I am going to be integrating our goals through this format.

My poor husband, daughter, and dog have been "walking" around this the last week as I have been making some fun lettering.

Just a "beginning", or phase 1, of what I have put together for the 2013-2014 school year.

Phase 2 needs to begin REAL fast this week as my son is moving back to Ohio and we will be helping him do some work in the house he bought.  So, my goal is to get pretty much Phase 2 and 3 done in the next few days.

I just love my summer schedule.  Stay up late, get up pretty early, work on school stuff, go to my sister's pool to enjoy the sun.  I LOVE SUMMER!!

SueBeth and I will are working hard on finalizing some new things.  We are VERY close to getting some DIBELS units updated on our TPT store along with some fun NEW things.  Data Binder stuff should be finalized during my Phase 2 this week, too.  We should also have a 6 Traits Of Writing Packet ready to go!!

Hope you are enjoying summer as much as I am!!

Updating Data Binders...Almost There

The summer to do list has taken off both for at home and for school things.  We put many things on our summer school to do list and are beginning to cross some things off.  One item we put on our summer to do list was to update our Data Binders with some new items.  We are getting so close to wrapping up this new packet.  Here is a sneak peek:
Going with a T.E.A.M. theme this year with data binders so that I don't have to change it every year to match my theme I am doing in my classroom.  Our classroom theme this year is OWLS.
Having so much fun updating this packet.  We are adding new clipart, adding new data collection sheets, and hoping to produce a great product that will show lots of student learning and growth.
Once we are finished, we will definitely take pictures and let you all know when it is up on our TPT store!!

We are almost done with updating our Letter Naming Fluency and Initial Sound Fluency Packet packet.  If you have already purchased it on our TPT store, you are in luck cause it's going to have some great additional ideas.

Data Binder Celebration

The kids have helped chart and put things into their data binders all year long, but there is just something special about when it's all done.  Before I passed out their data binders, I took one students and discuss all of the progress that she had made since the beginning of the year in kindergarten.  The kids were most "impressed" by the progress that she had made in writing.  Once we were done reviewing her data binder, I passed out data binders to each student in my class.  I told them that first I wanted them to look through it independently, then once time was up, they could choose a partner/partners to share their data binder progress.  You would have thought I told them we were going on an extra field trip or something because they were so excited to share their progress.
One of the items on our to do list this summer is to revamp and add more items to my kindergarten data binders.  SueBeth and I have been discussing things to change and what things we can add to it to make them better.  Here are some fun pictures of them enjoying their data binders:
