Arbor Day Booklet and Extended Days Finished!!!

Today was our last day of extended day.  Our school day was extended by 1 hour for the last 11 days.  The kids did a fabulous job with these last 11 days with staying in class until 4:30.  I think we are all ready though of getting back to a regular routine and dismissal at 3:30.
We have been working on Earth Day this week and have a school wide celebration on Friday celebrating Arbor Day.  SueBeth put together an Arbor Day booklet that we just uploaded to TPT:  Plant A Tree For Arbor Day.
Our school is beginning to prepare for our upcoming Leadership Day.  My leadership team, indoor beautification team, worked hard on making some gumball machines that will be used as table decorations.  We are 99.9% completed and I will take pictures to share.  This coordinates with our Bubble Gum Rubric that corresponds with the Marzano Framework of using a rubric.  I use it with my kindergarten students and it works wonderful.

WOW!!! What a week!!! KRA Training, Math Training, and SLO Evaluation

We had school 4 days last week due to having Friday off.  Well, I had 3 meetings and was sick one day, so I did not see my kids all week.  Plus this week our extended days from missing too many snow days continued, so the kids had a sub all 4 days and went to school an extra hour each day!   Overall, it sounds like they did great.  So ready to be back to my classroom on Monday.

Two of my days off were to learn how to give the KRA (Kindergarten Readiness Assessment) to all kindergarten students in the fall in the state of Ohio.
On Monday, I attended a math training.  I love the math common core, so it was a lot of fun sharing ideas between different grade levels of how to make some things common between our K-5 buildings.  Excited about these activities that we have planned for next year.
Tens and Ones Fun Center:  We have been working hard on measurement, but we are still reviewing compose/decompose.  I ordered a magnetic base ten set from Learning Resources and purchased some smaller cookie sheets from Dollar Tree for my students to use in a center to compose/decompose numbers.  I made some cards Numbers That Stick Together with numbers in a sequence and thought they could say/write the number that would come next and build the number, too.  Working hard on number sense these next 6 weeks of school!!
Off to enjoy the rest of my vacation day, but check back this weekend on some writing samples that I will be sharing to show how we are reporting our SLO items.

Spring Break Over, One More SLO, and Make Up Hours Begin

Spring break was totally amazing.  My husband and I decided to fly to Sanibel Island in Florida for the week.  We spent our time at the beach and pool areas.  It was soooo relaxing.
I am almost ready for our first week back.  Our district missed too many days this year due to snow, so starting Tuesday we are adding an hour on to each day for the next 11 days.  I am planning a lot of hands on science activities and math activities during this extra time.
Well, I am done with my reading and math SLO's for this year.  My writing one will be given this week.  I am hoping to do it either Tuesday or Wednesday.  I can't wait to see the progress they have made with their writing.
This week we will begin our plant unit along with our measurement unit.  I will be posting some fun measurement activities to meet the kindergarten common core strand of measurement.  The activities will be coming from our measurement packet:
